How to change the input language in XP

Do you need to create documents in a foreign language using your XP computer?

You can easily change the input language to allow you to do so.

Here's how:

  1. Click Start | Control Panel
  2. In Category view, switch to Classic view. Then click Regional and Language Options.
  3. Click the Languages tab.
  4. Under Text Services and Input Languages, click Details.
  5. Under Installed Services, click Add.
  6. In the Add Input Language dialog box, select the desired language and keyboard layout or IME (Input Method Editor). If the language you want doesn't appear in the list, under Supplemental Language Support, check the box next to the language collection you want to add, and click Apply. You'll need to insert the XP installation CD to install the files and then restart the computer, and start over at step 1.
  7. After you've added the language, click OK twice to exit the dialog boxes. A language indicator icon should appear in the system tray notification area. You can press the ALT + Shift keys to switch between languages.
